Chabad Campus Tzitzit in Memory of Rabbi Zvi Kogan HY”D

More Jewish students wearing tzitzit. More everyday connection to a mitzvah. More light on campus. That is the purpose of VeAhavta Judaica’s Chabad on Campus tzitzit initiative in memory of Rabbi Zvi HaKohen Kogan HY”D.
VeAhavta Judaica (ואהבת) organizes and coordinates this campus initiative — reviewing applications, arranging the campaign gift cards and helping selected Chabad shluchim choose eligible tzitzit for their students. Melechet Machshevet (MMJ) is the manufacturer of the MMJ garments; VeAhavta Judaica is the company running the program.
With the support of the Kogan family, the initiative gives selected Chabad campus shluchim a practical way to help students begin wearing tzitzit: a $1,000 VeAhavta gift card for a $100 campus contribution. Each campus chooses the eligible styles, colors and sizes that work for its students.
לעילוי נשמת הרב צבי הכהן בן רבי אלכסנדר הי״ד
One student. One mitzvah. A daily connection that can continue long after the campus event.
Chabad on Campus: turning inspiration into daily action
A student can leave a Chabad house inspired by a conversation, a Shabbat meal or a campus gathering. The next step is helping that inspiration become part of everyday life. Wearing tzitzit gives a student a tangible way to carry a mitzvah into the classroom, the dorm and the daily routine.
Our role at VeAhavta is to make the product choice easier for Chabad campus shluchim. Instead of sending one fixed assortment, the initiative allows each shliach to select the tzitzit his students will feel comfortable wearing.
What the campus campaign has looked like
The campaign’s photographs show students holding packaged Chabad tzitzit shirts and wearing different tzitzit styles. The video below shares the campus activity behind the initiative. These moments bring the purpose into focus: helping students connect with the mitzvah through something they can actually wear.

Chabad tzitzit that fit the student’s routine
There is no single fabric or shirt shape that suits every student. Some prefer cotton; others want Dri-Fit for an active day. Some choose a sleeved tzitzit shirt, while others feel more comfortable in a sleeveless undershirt or a traditional tallit katan.
The gift card can be used for eligible cotton and Dri-Fit tzitzit, cotton and wool tallit katan, and wool tzitzit undershirts. Tallit gadol prayer shawls and other non-tzitzit products are excluded.
For Chabad tzitzit, check the actual product variant for the Chabad tying option. Fabric choice and tying tradition are separate decisions: the campaign offers flexibility in garments, while each shliach can choose the custom appropriate for his students.

- Distribute and document. Selected campuses agree to share photos and short video clips, including students who take on wearing tzitzit.

Help another Jewish student take on tzitzit
For Chabad shluchim, the opportunity is deeply personal: meet a student where he is, help him find a garment he wants to wear, and make room for another mitzvah in his life. In memory of Rabbi Zvi Kogan HY”D, the campus initiative turns remembrance into an invitation to add light through action.
