For centuries, Jerusalem’s tailors—passing their craft from generation to generation inside the Old City walls—have preserved this unique style known as the Jerusalem cut.

The kittel is traditionally worn on Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur, the Seder night, and by the groom under the chuppah. Among Jerusalem’s families, it also became a custom for kabbalists and men of tradition to wear it on Shabbat, as a continuation of their fathers’ and grandfathers’ ways.
